Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at an appointment?

When you arrive at Lowton Rehab, a member of our team will greet you and seat you at the waiting area if necessary. Once ready your therapist will introduce themselves welcoming you into the clinic – average waiting time is 2 minutes.

What should I wear?

You should wear comfortable clothing such as a loose top, tracksuit or shorts and trainers that you feel able to move around in easily. Your therapist may need to visually assess you in terms of movement and posture, as well as move different areas of your body, so these should be accessible and visible.

How long do appointments last?

Your first initial consultation will involve a full assessment and will take up to 60 minutes. Most follow up treatment appointments are 45 minutes and will depend on what your treatment plan requires, however if you have any concerns about timings then you’re welcome to discuss this with your therapist.

Do you get treatment during your initial appointment?

Your first session will involve a full assessment and in most cases, treatment designed to immediately reduce you pain as well as recommendations to support your recovery following treatment

Do I need to see my doctor first?

If you are self-referring and paying for your own treatment then you do not need to see your GP first.

If you use private medical insurance you may require a GP’s referral, depending on your insurer’s requirement. You should always check with your insurance company before attending your first session.

Will it hurt?

Some treatment can be uncomfortable but at no stage should you be unable to tolerate the level of discomfort. Your therapist will give you clear guidelines on what to expect during and after treatment and what is a normal reaction. If you have any concerns then you should speak to your therapist immediately.

Can I bring someone with me?

You are more than welcome to have someone chaperone you during your treatment. In some cases a chaperone is compulsory, such as for children or someone with special needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

Missed appointments, or any appointment changed, altered, moved or cancelled for any reason with less than 24 hours’ notice may be fully charged.

What kind of payment do you accept?

As well as cash payment we are able to take debit and credit card payment including Visa, Mastercard and American Express in addition to contactless and mobile payments including apple pay and android pay. 

We no longer accept payment via cheque.

Do you have parking facilities?

Yes.

Free Parking is available at the back of our facility.

What is Basrat?

BASRaT is the UK regulator for Sport Rehabilitation Graduates and has been approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.

What is HPC?

The Health Professions Council was set up in 2003 under the National Health Service Reform and Health Care Professions Act 2002, to replace the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM). It is a regulatory body for a number of health professions.
